TJ Thickett is a Los Angeles-based Director of Photography working across narrative, commercial, and documentary.
He makes images that feel like they belong to the world of the film — found rather than fabricated, but sculpted with intention. His instinct is toward high contrast and emotional weight: light that carries meaning without announcing itself, frames that make you feel something before you understand why.
His recent narrative work includes two features currently in post-production — Progeny and Land of Many Birds— both expected to enter festival circulation later this year.
His commercial work includes work for Deloitte, Kaiser Permanente, Clove Studios, and Highwest. His documentary credits include the Blue Origin NS31 launch film, Dreambreaker: A Pickelball Story, and Shaq.
TJ holds an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute Conservatory. When he's not on set you can find him hiking with his dog Posey, or in the kitchen attempting a new and complicated recipe.
